Heading home
I can picture it all now. I haven't been home since February. Summers at home were awesome. I would hit the gym in the mornings, play basketball with the boys, deliver pizza till late and then meet up with everyone afterwards. That was life. I'll claim a little bit of that back this weekend, minus the pizza delivery and add in a family BBQ.
The Quach BBQs are famous. Ever since I introduces my dad to the Martini, he hasn't stopped loving them. The first time we did martini's was Christmas of '02. The dinner was fantastic as always and afterwards he started the martini mixing. After five of them, he had to walk upstairs and pass out. That was at 10pm!! Half an hour later, there is my uncle on the couch, snoring. These parties use to last into the early am!
Now my mom will always cook way more then we actually eat. And her sense of hospitality is great. She has that lady charm. The lady charm is the ability to make everyone around you comfortable. And her spring rolls and egg rolls are (no exaggeration) the best in the world!
My dad is the more creative cook. He whips dishes from books and turns them into his own creation. He's always trying, and perfecting something new.
My uncle will end up playing beer pong with the kids. My mom will get very talkative.
All my friends have learned to never miss a party. The only draw back is the career advice they'll recieve from everyone in my family.
My other uncle and will always remind me and my cousins how important family is right before he makes us all do a shot.
And I'll be hitting the BEACH, yo! It's been too long.
