Rambling on

When I was a toddler, I use to carry around a blanket. I liked the way it felt. I was a big fan of the ways things tasted, felt, smelled, looked, etc. I was a big fan of the senses. I couldn't go anywhere without it. Once school started, I learned to leave it at home, but I still had to sleep with it. I also happen to have sucked my thumb. This carried on until right before second grade.

The week before second grade started, I remember looking in the mirror and telling myself I have to grow up. So I took my blanket and put it in the trash and taught myself to not suck my thumb anymore. I really don't know whether or not my mom saved it. I remember not being able to sleep at my cousins house unless I had that ragged thing. It was tramatic. I remember it pretty vividly. I had a TV in my room then, and would watch Arsenio Hall every night. whoa, whoa, whoa.. hmm. Yeah.

Sophomore year of high school, I was shopping for new bedding and I found a blanket that has the same texture as the one I threw away. Yes, I bought it and still to this day have it on my bed. No, I don't suck my thumb anymore.

Little Dat was a cool kid.

At the age of five, my hair, which at the time was stick-straight asian, began to curl. I had a jew fro for a while, and everyone would ask my parents if I had gotten a perm. "Yes, our little Dat just loves to sit for hours in beauty Salons with hot curlers in his hair." (I really don't know if that's how perms work. I really don't even understand why people get them). It was freaking weird. Maybe it was the East Boston water, or the airport fumes from Logan that caused it, but for a while (two weeks) I thought I was adopted. No one in my family has curly hair! Anyway, It slowly become straight with a slight wave to it.

I also taught myself how to ride a two-wheeler. Jay-Z does not have exlusive rights on that event. I think I was seven. I went to my cousin's house to play and he was struggling hardcore to ride his two-wheeler. At this point, I was still rocking the training wheels, but I said "hey, falling looks fun." So I picked up his two wheeler and started riding it. I did a wheely, then took it hardcore off a ramp and while in the air, did a 360 flip, legs kicked and landed like a pro. Jk..I really don't even know what those tricks are. But I did manage the two-wheeler, and so did my cousin....eventually.
