Easy Sunday
I watched movies all day Sunday and if I had the time and the money, I would have watched more. Every person tends to gravitate towards a certain genre of movies. Some people like to watch romantic comedies staring Hugh Grant, some like to watch Vin Diseal try to act, some like to show up to Star Wars movies all decked up in storm trooper gear (never have, I swear). I am obsessed with good movies, but the two genres of film that I am the biggest sucker for are sport movies and super hero movies. You could say they fall in the same catergory. Sport stars today are the living and breathing superheros of childhood. They perform spectaculor feats and get paid a shit load for it too. This will not turn into a Manny Ramirez post. I'm glad you are staying in Boston, and I love you, Manny, but you got to cut out all that drama...whew.
So I went and I watched Sky High this Sunday...by myself...cause who in their right mind would pay to go see a movie about a kid whose parents are superheros and send him to superhero high school. The catch is that he hasn't discovered his powers until half way through the school year and at the same time he has to live up to his family name as the greatest superhero team ever. It's like a really bad X-Men movie mixed with Can't Hardly Wait. Anyway, it's cheesy, the plot was okay, and the story is mediocre, but it's a feel good movie and it made me feel good. Who would go see this movie? Little kids and their parents. Yes, I was sitting in a theatre, by myself surrounded by screaming kids and their parents who on a nice day decide to take their kids to the movies! Shame on them. Shame on me. I should go hide under a couch now.
